Carol S. Chong
Carol has over ten years of healthcare business consulting experience. She began her career at Arthur Andersen as a member of the healthcare practice. Prior to joining I3, Carol was an Associate Director with Navigant Consulting, Inc. and specialized in revenue cycle improvement, process improvement, and project management.
She has managed redesign and implementation projects for large, complex hospital systems, academic medical centers, and community-based hospitals. Some prior projects include:
- Interim management for Patient Access department and responsible for managing operations in Admitting, Pre-Registration, and Emergency Department.
- Project management of a financial clearance and insurance verification software system for a multi-hospital health system.
- Completion of Patient Access operational assessments inclusive of people, process, and technology at various hospitals and academic medical centers.
- Project management for a document imaging software selection and implementation for an academic medical center.
- Development of a Program Management Office (PMO) to manage compliance remediation activities for a nationwide healthcare system seeking to meet government billing and service requirements.
- Six Sigma process improvement initiative at a large public hospital system to improve revenue capture processes and increase cash collections.
- Integration of Patient Access operations for four hospitals and faculty practice plan at an academic medical center.
- Implementation of new organizational structures designed to optimize and integrate revenue cycle operations, establish training and accountability, track and monitor performance, and improve communication.
- Completion of performance improvement assessments to identify operational and system efficiencies as well as net revenue and cash flow opportunities.
- Implementation of a performance reporting management system.
Carol received a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland. She also received a Master of Healthcare Administration and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina. She is a member of the Maryland Chapter of American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management.
